Become a Volunteer

Got a bit of spare time?  Good Neighbours are always looking for volunteers.  You don't have to commit to a specific amount of time or specific day, it's just if and when you can.

How does it work?

  1. Clients call the Helpline and leave details of the help they need; this might be a lift to / from the dentist, shopping trip etc.
  2. The duty co-ordinator picks up the message and enters the details into our Task Management System.
  3. If a volunteer is needed for the task a text message is sent to all volunteers advising the date/time and brief details of the task (but not the client name)
  4. Any volunteer who is able to complete the task responds to the text message
  5. The duty co-ordinator allocates the task to a volunteer and advises them of the client name and address together with any other pertinent details.  Anyone else who has volunteered is advised by text message that the task has been assigned to someone else.
  6. The duty co-ordinator advises the client of the name of the volunteer.

So, volunteers just choose to do only tasks that fit in with their free time.

Interested?

Just call our Helpline 07897 994378 and leave us a message.  The duty co-ordinator will pass your name to our chief co-ordinator who will arrange a chat with you to complete the necessary paperwork. Alternatively send us an email to [email protected]

We'll need:

  • to know that your car insurance covers you for volunteering
  • to do a DBS check
  • to ask you to read our policies on Safeguarding and Child Protection
